Facilitate transport of drugs across the blood brain barrier

LipoBridge^® is an innovative technology specifically designed to facilitate transport of drug compounds across the blood brain barrier and into the central nervous system (CNS).

LipoBridge^® temporarily and reversibly opens tight junctions to deliver drug compounds into the CNS, avoiding the potential side effects of traditional CNS delivery technologies.

Short chain oligoglycerolipids have been shown to facilitate the delivery, distribution and uptake of pharmaceutical activities into the CNS and thereby permeate the blood brain barrier. Existing data shows that some of these molecules can increase the drug concentration reaching the CNS by a factor of up to 100 without toxic side effects. It has been demonstrated in several laboratories that intra-arterial injections of a simple mixture of LipoBridge^® and model compounds or pharmaceutical actives can deliver these actives into one or both hemispheres of the brain allowing for increased concentration in a selected hemisphere. This permeability has been shown to be reversible and it has been demonstrated that the carrier itself is excreted unmetabolized.
